There's a difference between equality in law and finance, and the way males and females relate to each other on a personal level. I find it easy to differentiate between the two whereas lots of people think it's all one way or all the other. Females 'want' equality, so they aren't entitled to having doors opened or allowed to go through a doorway first, or you get the girly stuff and can forget about equal pay. I say bollocks. The two aren't related and can both happen simultaneously.

Welcome back Erebus. Very Happy

You are dead right, and I believe it is more widely spread than just in law and finance, from my perspective, it would be my personal choice to allow a female to go through the door first, irrespective to wherever it was or the salary, out of common courtesy, that's the way that males in my era were taught.

As I said earlier, if a woman can do the same job, then the salary should be the same. Equality in the work force, should not undermine basic manners, but that is a two way street as well.

I hope that I have interpreted the meaning your comment correctly within the context of your post. Very Happy Nice thread

I think it's kind of a bad idea, if we don't have a mens day! I mean, at what point does fighting for equality actually make it more in-equal between the sexes?

Good point Boo, I have met some men who are downtrodden in their marriage, and/or their workplace, so how do they get equality. I never sweat the little things in life, and hold doors for mums with prams and people older than me (yes there are some!) or disabled people (although sometimes you get snarled at). If a kid pushes in front of me and lets the door go in my face, I usually say"Thanks for that, love your mannners" or similar ... once a woman did not thank me for helping her get her pram up steps and in a heavy door, so I said "next time a thank you would not go astray" she went red, and apologised. I think a lot of people just have not been taught manners.

International Women's day, is it a good Idea?
Is it sexist?
Is it feminists driven by a few but loud organisations?
Is it meant in all good intentions to recognise women in their own right?

What do you really think about International Women's day?
