To quote the article "In video evidence shown during a two-day inquest, the officer asks Ramirez to raise his hands six times before he opens fire.

“I knew in that moment, which later was determined to be untrue, but I knew in that moment he was reaching for a gun,” Morrison said in his coroner’s court testimony.

“I couldn’t take that risk ... I wanted to see my son grow up.”

He had given the guy every chance, and he was on methamphetamine which I believes makes people abnormally strong and irrational, I don't think he acted rashly, he thought there was a weapon involved.....

This is the problem with people who react against police, when being approached by them, especially in the US where there is virtually no gun control, the police just don't know if someone is reaching for a weapon or not. So do they take that chance or not? Nup!

Totally agree with you big L, who would take that chance? Not me that's for sure, you could never pay me enough to do that job.

How can you possibly train for that sort of situation to the fullest? Intuition and self preservation takes over.

You take the situation in Queensland a day or two ago with that Police chase, where the Queensland police who are not allowed to be armed were shot at, as were cars driven by the public. The police and the public were helpless and in danger of being shot by morons who knew that the police could not return fire, and it could have been fatal.

It wasn't until they crossed the boarder and faced the NSW police on equal terms that they were apprehended, reiterating my first point, however, if the idiots had been shot, there would have been a public outcry from the so called human rights activists calling for more training. Whatever the police do or don't do their criticised for it.

There are no simple answers or strategies in either of these situations.

Every serving police officer should be allowed to use their weapon when they fear for their lives, or lives of the general public.

On a sad note, those stinking terrorists have committed mass murder in France, we must all band together to rid the world of this scourge, irrational, stone age, bigoted, and any other adjective you can think of.

France - the home of liberty, equality, and fraternity - take a minutes silence to show your support. Hoping and Praying

Police these days are working with their own handcuffs on, mostly because of human rights activists screaming foul, and yes sometimes they do cross the line, but the majority of times they do their job to the best of their ability. A lot more can be said about this for and against.
