I was waiting for an appointment the other day and read an article (or part of) about Euthanasia in Children.
It raised a few questions for me. Can we comfortably euthanasia-for-children-belgium-law-terminally-ill-die a child when there may well be a cure for their illness in their lifetime. Who decides.....I actually read this article in a Catholic publication, yet the Catholic religion frowns upon euthansia, so why was it discussing it. I found part of an article which has some of the same information.

I get a headache even thinking about this, the legal side of this topic is only the beginning to me. My nephew held is premature born son in his arms, just on 9 months old after the life support keeping him a live was turned off, the little fellow died in his arms. Even though this little guys fate was determined and nothing more could be done, my nephew still questions himself, and will for the rest of his life.

My point is, could you live with yourself ? but then again it would depend on the circumstances, or would it? Turning off life support is far different from giving a lethal injection or a peaceful pill. Children have no real concept of what death means at the age of 10, surely if a child is in pain there are medications to relive that pain, or are there? Once again this depends on the circumstances.

I really don't know where I stand on this one, as we are talking about the most precious gift in life, children. I will be very interested to see how other members feel about this, meanwhile I'm sitting on the fence and will give it some more thought. Serious man

How can anybody judge another's suffering? I was fortunate that my kids were all healthy and my grandchildren are too, my great grandson has a slight mental disability due to the fact his mother took drugs (yeah great work there). But he is still okay and not in pain. I honestly don't know how I could handle a child in obvious distress who was asking to die, their concept of death is not true, maybe mine isn't either? I will leave it to the medical people to make the decisions here I think.

I can only say one thing here, I don't know what I would do if it were one of my Kids. Nup!
