I came across this news story today, as I was going to post about the deadly cone shell here in Australia, so to add to the post, this man was walking in bare feet along the beach  (stupid in this part of the world in the north Queensland region) and was stung by one of these things.

There is no known anti venom for this cone shell fish, and it was only the proximately that his was in and the paramedics quick thinking that saved his life.

The Cone Shell fish, common in the North east of Australia. I remember as a kid when I went on a school holiday in Cairns and we visited Green Island. We were specifically warned against picking up shells and that we must not walk along the beach in bare feet. This was way back in the very early sixties. There was no anti venom for it's toxins back then, and there is still none today. Add captions appear in this video, so click on the cross on the top right hand corner of the caption to remove them. Let that be a warning to people in northern Australia. That guy who was stung is extremely lucky. Watch it!

We are a pretty good bunch, and I would stop every time and I have done so to help an animal out. Rippa Rita!

We have some really strange critters out here, and now, 10 new species of Trapdoor spiders have been found in Queensland, but the newly discovered Peacock Spider lives in the southern parts of Australia.... Check it out in the video. I want to see one! Shock
